Insurance & Costs
Treatment can be expensive, especially the medication at the pharmacy.
For office visits, MATClinics accepts all Maryland Medicaid plans, Medicare Part B, and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.
Patients without insurance can pay out of pocket. If you have insurance that we do not accept you can submit our invoices for reimbursement.
MATClinics is a medical practice and your visit with us will be billed based on the services provided. There are three areas of cost associated with each visit:
Office Visits
Toxicology Labs
Prescription Medication
All are covered by the insurances that we accept. Patients will be responsible for the portion of costs not covered by their insurance.

We accept Medicare Part B. Typically, you will know if you have this plan because you were issued a red, white and blue card. If you have Medicare Part B, you are responsible for paying 20% of the Medicare reimbursement rate out of pocket. We will ask you to pay us after Medicare tells us what you owe us. If you have a supplemental plan, often referred to as Medigap, we will bill your secondary insurance for your co-pay.
Maryland Medicaid is managed through managed care organizations (MCOs). Every Maryland Medicaid customer has an MCO. All behavioral health, including addiction treatment, is reimbursed through Beacon Health Options. Beacon will be largely invisible to our patients. The current list of Maryland Medicaid MCOs are listed below:
- Aetna Better Health
- Amerigroup Community Care
- Jai Medical Systems
- Kaiser Permanente (Medicaid)
- Maryland Physicians Care
- MedStar Family Choice
- Priority Partners
- University of Maryland Health Partners
- UnitedHealthcare (Medicaid)
If you have any of these MCOs, we will accept your insurance as payment for your office visits and labs.
MATClinics is in-network and accepts all CareFirst plans, including CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and CareFirst BlueChoice. We also accept all out-of-state BlueCross and BlueShield plans.
If you have commercial insurance, you will need to pay us directly for your care. We can give you detailed invoices that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
We realize that asking our patients to pay out of pocket can create a significant financial burden. Please talk to your case manager about ways that we can help you manage your payments. It is our objective to minimize, as much as possible, the number of patients that need to pay us directly. If the burden is too great we will help you find another program that will accept your insurance for office visits.
